Heisman Trophy and My Two Cents.
 Adam Reardon
November 27, 2007
Its fun to work in sports radio here in Gainesville, FL. This year's Heisman
Trophy has been decided about as much as this year's National Championship.
Working here I get all the Tebow love one man can stomach. Now before anyone
twists my words, Tim Tebow IS a legit Heisman Candidate. But I must say he's not
the only one.
There are 3 kinds of Heisman Trophy winners. The Best Football player in the
country, That is guys like Carson Palmer and Charles Woodson, you Know guys who
are top 5 Picks in the NFL. This Year's Best Player candidate is McFadden.
Stat guys have won the award as well. Names like Andre Ware an Ty Detmer fall
under that category guys who put up huge numbers but the team is not in the
National championship hunt. This is where Tebow comes in. His Stats are unreal
but Florida finished 3rd in the SEC east.
Then there are Leaders of winners Guys that put up above avg. Stats while doing
whatever it takes to lead there teams to wins week in and week out. Names like
Torretta and Crouch come to mind. Chase Danniel is that guy this year. His Stats
are very good but pail next to those of Tebow's or Grahm Harrells nationally.
So who will win? It depends on what the voters are impressed by. If it's
Highlight reel moments it's McFadden, If it's gaughty stats individually but no
real team success then it's Tebow, If it's a guy who is the unquestioned leader
of a team who has made there way to the top of the poll and a shot at the
National Title, then Danniel will get the nod.
In a year when Kansas ,Missori, and Arizona St. have all been a player in the
National Championship lets go off the radar for the Heisman as well. Let's vote
for a guy with Unreal stats, The leader of a BCS bowl caliber team and a guy
who might be a first round draft pick in the NFL.
Colt Brennen of Hawaii .....in a year like this Why not? Adam Reardon (The Oilcan) can be heard daily on ESPN Radio -
