By now you have all heard about Bobby Petrino leaving the
Atlanta Falcons and jumping to the University of Arkansas.
Now supposedly this major decision was done in just a few hours on Tuesday after
speaking with Arkansas on the phone.
Petrino has shown once again that he is classless and should never be trusted.
Remember he tried to sneak in and stab Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville's back a
couple of season ago by trying to take his job. Last season he signed a contract
extension while he was the head coach at Louisville, telling everyone that
Louisville was where he wanted to be and six months later he jumped ship for the
Falcons job in the NFL.
Now after going 3-10, alienating his veteran players and not even completing a
complete season he jumps ship. All of this after Falcons owner Arthur Blank gave
him an incredible vote of confidence the night before on ESPN's Monday Night
Football.
The other funny thing is to listen to Petrino being introduced at Arkansas as a
person of character. Yeah real character here, he told Arthur Blank by phone,
called a quick coaches meeting, told them and left. Real character there. He has
no people skills what so ever, so he runs back to college where he can just walk
over young players instead.
Ask yourself would you really want your kid going to play for Petrino at
Arkansas? Imagine the character that he would learn from him. You can only
imagine how Falcons owner Blank must feel at this point. First he sinks a ton of
money in Michael Vick to see that deteriorate and forks up tons of cash to get
Petrino to coach only to see that vanish.
Petrino is overrated as a coach and this will show in Arkansas. Razorback fans
will miss Houston Nutt more than they can imagine in the next couple of years.
The Falcons on the other hand are in sorry shape and who ever takes on the task
of turning them around needs to be someone who will stick around to complete the
job, not bail out because it is a little tough.
A little more on the Falcons owner Arthur Blank. When he appeared on Monday
Night Football to comment on the Michael Vick situation he mentioned the Michael
would have to not eat a lot of fried chicken and French fries while in prison.
Of now you have the PC police crying racist comments and ESPN has already ran
with it, blowing way out of proportion.
The Falcons released a statement in defense of Blank Tuesday afternoon. Keep
this in mind, Blank gave Vick millions, was seen pushing him around in a wheel
chair at games and was definitely distraught over the entire situation.
The Mitchell Report is due out today. Do you really think that it will matter?
Don't forget to vote on this week's "Fan Poll"
