More Grandstanding.
J. Panetta
February 4, 2008
We took the past couple of weeks to travel out to Arizona
to enjoy The Super Bowl festivities. We decided not to report or write about it
because everyone and their dog would be doing and you would be drowned enough
with it.
A few things happened during the week some of them make you ask why? Like why to
reporters look to make a fool of themselves at media day by dressing up and
asking just the lamest questions known to man? Yes, we know that they get their
15 second of fame but then what? They are remembered for life as that geek at
media day. Not us hear at The Blitz, we keep things fresh, moving and positive;
with out making fools of ourselves. OK, there is some negative too, but hey
that's the sports world so you deal with it right?
Now let's take a look at the past week.
First Wilbon is supposed to be feeling better and back on PTI this week.
HOORAY!!! Hey "Our BOY" was one of the few to pick the Giants. Both Wilbon and
ESPN analyst Merrell Hodge let everyone know that the Giants were going to win
and got laughed at. Not us here at The Blitz, we were with them. Maybe that is
because most of us grew up in South Florida as Dolphin fans or maybe because we,
like much of the football nation are just worn out with the Patriots.
Senator Arlen Specter now wants to talk to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell about
the Patriots and "Spy Gate", or more about why Goodell and the league got rid of
the Spy Gate tapes. Once again is there something more that our tax dollars could
be doing than having some crazy old political lifer wasting them on this? What
and why? Was a crime committed when this happened? Was there some secret Federal
Football Taping law broken that we don't know about? Maybe the tape was supposed
to go the CIA for further review. I just think that when some old geezer
congressman comes with this as a way to spend your tax dollars then it is time
for him to retire.
OH but wait. It was reported that the Patriots may have been filming as far back
as their 2001 Super Bowl game against the Rams. It was reported that the
Patriots taped the St. Louis Rams final walk through and this gave them the
inside scoop and what the Rams were going to do. Well imagine that. The league
says that they had already looked into the accusations, but you can bet that
Senator Specter will want to look more into this, at you cost of your wallet.

As far as the game itself that was just a great defensive performance by a team
that according to almost all the experts, had no chance. The Giants punched the
Patriots in the mouth, over and over, Eli came through when needed and the coach
that everyone in New York wanted run out of town in week three held the trophy
high.
We aren't going to break down every detail of this game, because everyone else
is going to do that for you. We are going to tell you about the real reasons why
the Giants won. They wanted it more, they felt that they had more to prove and
the Patriots thought that it was in the bag. Heck they tried to trademark the
term 19-0 but someone had beaten them to it. There was a book already to ship
called 19-0 that they were taking orders for online.
The game was much like UNLV vs. Duke in the 1991 NCAA Men's Basketball final.
The Giants had no chance and really shouldn't be there. Remember Eli was not a
leader, showed no emotion, couldn't come through in the clutch and what ever
negative thing that you could say. After the game he was unflappable and ice
water in his veins.
All that I can say is congratulations Eli. I just wish that when you held the
trophy up he would have said; Hey Tiki, we couldn't have done it with you. From
this day forward the Giants will be known as "Dynasty Killers".
Don't forget to vote on this week's "Fan Poll"
