Tim Tebow the phenomenal sophomore
quarterback for the Florida Gators entered Saturday evening game against the
Florida State Seminoles with winning on his mind and the Heisman on the minds of
Gator fans.
Tebow has put up a sensational record breaking season becoming the first player
in NCAA Division I history to rush and pass for over 20 touchdowns passing for
29 and rushing for 22.
Heisman voters spent Friday evening watching last year Heisman runner-up Darren
McFadden and the Arkansas Razorbacks defeat the BCS number one team LSU 50-48 in
triple overtime.
Florida head coach Urban Meyer was ask in after practice this week ,why he was
not promoting Tebow for the Heisman, “This is the University of Florida you
should not have to promote any player for the Heisman, you just go out every
Saturday and give him the ball,” said Meyer.
Meyer gave the ball to Tebow and he went out and performed against FSU, breaking
out of the grasp of FSU defensive tackle Justin Mincey avoiding a sack and ran
22 yards for the games first touchdown.
On Florida’s next drive Tebow led the Gators on a 5 play 62 yard drive, capping
it with a 32 yard touchdown to wide-receiver Louis Murphy.
Tebow then proceed to lead Florida down field on a third consecutive drive with
a 14 yard touchdown pass to Murphy again for his second touchdown of the game.
This was the 13 consecutive time that Tebow has rush and thrown for a touchdown
in a game and the 7 time in his career that he has rushed for more than two
touchdowns in game.
Tebow finished the season defeating arch rival Florida State 45-12, passing for
262 yards, rushing for 89 yards, and rushing and passing for 2 and 3 touchdowns
respectively.
Tebow’s final record for the season is 217 of 317 attempts 3,132 yards and 29
passing touchdowns, and 194 rushing attempts for 838 yards and 22 touchdowns.
The question is will Tebow be invited to New York for the Heisman presentation
on December 8, and when Chris Fowler approach the podium that night and say the
words An the Heisman goes to!!, whose name will he call, Florida Gators fans all
hope it will be Tim Tebow.
