MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: The first phase for voting for the All-Star Game concluded on Thursday, ending with something that has now happened several times: Aaron Judge as a starter in the outfield for the AL. Judge topped the AL’s vote tally and is guaranteed one of the outfield slots for the Midsummer Classic, which will mark the seventh time the Yankee captain has been an All-Star.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Closer inspection of Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s ejection in Tuesday’s game revealed that former Yankee catcher Jose Trevino was partially responsible for drawing the umpire’s attention back to Chisholm’s annoyance. Jazz himself wasn’t all that bothered by Trevino playing the role of pest, saying he found it funny. Chisholm ended up getting some revenge by hitting a homer on Wednesday.
New York Post | Greg Joyce: Max Fried continued his impressive first season with the Yankees on Wednesday, putting in another great outing to beat the Reds. While there are still a couple weeks left and it remains to be seen if Fried lines up, but he is definitely in contention to start the All-Star Game for the American League, with Tarik Skubal and Hunter Brown among the others in the mix. Fried does have the somewhat built in advantage of having manager Aaron Boone helming the AL team this year, though.
Baseball America: With the season continuing along and prospects getting called up to the majors, plenty of youngsters are starting to “graduate” from prospect status. Recent ones have led to Yankees’ pitcher Cam Schlitter getting boosted into Baseball America’s top 100 prospects in all of baseball list.
