The Detroit Tigers begin a crucial series against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night, the last three-game series of the season between the two rivals.
The Tigers have been facing a lot of competition from the American League Central, with the Guardians being the foremost challenger for Detroit’s claim as the best team in the division.

At one point, the Tigers had a massive lead atop the Central, at one point leading the Guardians, Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins by over 10 games. However, with Cleveland coming on strong in the second half of the season, and Detroit dwindling at a crucial part of the season, the Guardians are making a true push for first place with just a couple of weeks left in the season.
This will be the final series between the historic rivals. Following the lackluster performance last week at home, in which Cleveland swept Detroit three straight at Comerica Park, the Tigers are 4-6 against the Guardians this season.
Detroit heads into Tuesday night one game ahead of Cleveland.
