Los Angeles Clippers guard, and former Florida Gator men’s basketball star, Bradley Beal will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season, according to ESPN.
A fracture in his left hip requires surgery, but he’s expected to have a “full and complete recovery,” according to his agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports (via Shams Charania).
Bartelstein told Charania that the decision to undergo surgery was unanimous between Beal’s camp and the Clippers medical staff.
Beal played in six games this season, leaving Saturday’s contest against the Phoenix Suns in the first half. He’s averaging 8.2 points and 1.7 assists over 20.2 minutes per game this year. Beal signed an $11 million, 2-year deal with the Clippers this offseason.
“This is a very, very fluky injury,” Clippers president Lawrence Frank said. “The surgeon said it is almost the equivalent of if you were in like a car accident. It is an atypical basketball injury. It is more of an acute trauma-type injury.”
Beal spent one season with Florida, averaging 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals as a freshman in 2011. He was named All-SEC first team and an All-SEC Freshman — the first Gator to do so in the same season. The Washington Wizards selected him third overall in the 2012 NBA draft, where he played for 11 seasons and won Rookie of the Year.
From 2019 to 2023, Beal averaged 27 points, 5.5 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. He shot 34.7% from 3-point range and 47.4% from the field during those five seasons.
He was traded to Phoenix ahead of the 2023-24 season to form a big three with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant but became the odd man out.
