Paco Lopez was suspended for three days by Kentucky racing stewards for his ride in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint on Friday.
According to Paulick Report, Lopez will sit out Wednesday, Thursday and Friday because of what the stewards considered careless riding.
Lopez was aboard Harper’s Corner, a 2-year-old filly trained by Cathal Lynch, for the Juvenile Turf Sprint. Harper’s Corner finished third by a head but was disqualified to eighth by stewards after the rider of Force Noir claimed interference.
The Equibase chart indicates that Harper’s Corner “bothered foes” as he was in second place near the three-eighths pole of the 5 1/2-furlong race.
The Juvenile Turf Sprint was won by favored Libertango by 1 1/4 lengths over 50-1 shot Hell of A Spin.
