As expected, Syracuse basketball guard Aiden Tobiason, a four-star transfer from Temple, has officially withdrawn his name from the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft, according to multiple media reports.
Dushawn London, a national analyst with 247Sports, first reported this development last week. On Tuesday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports also reported this news via his X page.

Candidly, Tobiason’s decision is not a surprise. In April, when he revealed that he would transfer to the Orange, reports noted that Tobiason would test the 2026 NBA Draft process, but that he also expected to return to college.

Players testing the NBA Draft waters have to withdraw from the draft by 11:59 pm EST on May 27 to maintain their collegiate eligibility. The 2026 NBA Draft will take place on June 23 and June 24 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Syracuse basketball has a deep backcourt for next season.
The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Tobiason, a sophomore, recently performed well at the NBA G League Combine, which occurred from May 8 to May 10 in Chicago. Several national analysts and scouts praised Tobiason for his play at the combine.
Tobiason is expected to start for first-year head coach Gerry McNamara in his rotation during the 2026-27 campaign. He has great positional size and versatility; my assumption is that Tobiason will start at either shooting guard or small forward, but he likely can also play spot minutes at point guard if needed.
In 2025-26, as a sophomore for the Owls, Tobiason averaged 35.3 minutes, 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game while connecting on 48.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line.
So far this offseason, McNamara and his assistants have assembled a six-member transfer class, and Tobiason is one of the Orange’s highest-ranked commits via the portal. Per 247Sports’ national transfer ratings, Tobiason checks in as four stars, No. 87 overall and No. 12 at shooting guard.
Some NBA Draft analysts have spoken to Tobiason’s talent and skill-set, suggesting that the ‘Cuse signee is a longer-term pro prospect. Tobiason had a breakout sophomore season at Temple, and I could envision him being among SU’s leading scorers – if not the team’s overall leading scorer – in 2026-27.
