Jordan Spieth’s last win on the PGA Tour came way back in April 2022 at the RBC Heritage.
Spieth’s game has regressed badly since then, and the harder he works on his game, the more he seems to struggle.

There have been encouraging signs this season at times, but he always seems to scupper his chances of contending with one really poor round.
Remarkably, Jordan Spieth is still yet to record a top-10 finish in 19 starts on the PGA Tour in 2026.
This season, the 33-year-old from Dallas has been let down by a different part of his game each week.

His driving has been slightly off at times, while other times his iron play or chipping and putting has let him down.
Spieth’s putter has been cold this week at the Rocket Classic, and his average form on the greens is the reason why he will enter the final round nine strokes adrift of the leader.

There have also been suggestions that Spieth needs to mix things up in the coaching department.
Meanwhile, others have urged him to switch to a mallet putter.
The biggest reason why Spieth hasn’t won in four years is difficult to pinpoint. However, there are signs that his failure to return to the winners’ circle is really getting to him now.
What Jordan Spieth has done since The Open is a sign that four-year winless run is really getting to him
Jordan Spieth’s four-year winless run is clearly getting to him now
Throughout his career, Spieth has been nothing if not extremely open and honest with the media.

In many ways, the way that he has made himself available to the press mimics his on-course attitude.
There are few players on the PGA Tour who engage in such open dialogue with their caddies during tournaments.
However, Spieth has seemingly shut up shop, so to speak, over the past two weeks.
The three-time major champion has not spoken to the media since his pre-tournament press conference on Monday during Open Championship week.
That is extremely unlike Spieth.
He clearly feels as though he needs to shut out the outside noise and focus more on his game.
However, that can be counterproductive at times. As we know, Spieth has been working incredibly hard on his game away from tournament play.

Is there an argument to make that he is working too hard? Also, is he actually working on the right things?

Perhaps he needs to take a more relaxed approach to his practice and the way that he plays tournaments.
That will obviously be easier said than done, but there is absolutely no doubt that the 13-time PGA Tour winner needs to make a change.
Jordan Spieth seems too reluctant to make the necessary changes
He should switch to a mallet putter immediately, regardless of what the numbers are telling him during testing.
Spieth just needs to look down on something different and hole one or two long-range putts.

Then he might just get some confidence back on the greens.
He should also consider changing coaches after 20 years of working with Cameron McCormick.
Finally, he would be well-served to admit that he isn’t actually as close as he says he is. If Jordan Spieth lowers his expectations and takes a more relaxed approach to the game, he may well find that his best golf comes back to him.
There is a feeling that he is constantly chasing that elusive form from 2015 to 2017 right now, when in reality, those days may never return.
Jordan Spieth’s media blackout is evidence that he is growing very tired of answering the same old questions about his game.

The only way for him to stop the negative noise is to go out and win again. Unfortunately, though, he doesn’t seem to be prepared to make the necessary changes he needs to return to the winners’ circle.
