The New York Yankees (73-56) saw their five-game winning streak end on Saturday as the Toronto Blue Jays (64-67) pulled to within a half-game of the last American League wild-card spot. On Sunday, the teams play the rubber game of their three-game weekend series at Yankee Stadium with the Yankees trailing the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays by three games. But the Yankees got some injury news on Saturday, with slugger Giancarlo Stanton’s return in jeopardy after he strained his left calf while rehabbing from a right calf strain and starter Ryan Weathers left Saturday’s game in the fourth inning with discomfort in his left forearm.

Dylan Cease took a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Saturday, leaving after allowing a run on two hits with eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings as Toronto banged out 15 hits in a 4-3 victory. Nathan Lukes homered in the eighth inning after providing an RBI single in the fifth while George Springer and Charles McAdoo also hit run-scoring singles.
New York’s rally fell short after Austin Wells singled home its first run in the seventh and Luis García Jr. hit a two-run homer in the eighth. Weathers surrendered two runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings to take the loss while Jazz Chisholm Jr. had two of the Yankees’ four hits on the day.
Left-hander Carlos Rodón (4-2) gets the start for New York on Sunday, coming in with a 3.22 ERA and 1.232 WHIP in 10 starts and 50.1 innings, striking out 56. Toronto goes with right-hander José Soriano (10-6), who is 1-0 in three starts since coming to the Jays earlier this month. Soriano enters with a 3.23 ERA and 1.263 WHIP overall in 25 starts and 139.1 innings.
