Is it time for the San Francisco Giants to completely overhaul their roster?

The Giants will miss the postseason for a fifth consecutive season.

President of baseball operations Buster Posey will have a lot of work to do this winter to get the NL West club back on track. That starts with the decision of whether to keep Tony Vitello as manager.

Next, the roster could certainly use some adjustments. It may be time for Posey to face reality and attempt to trade some of the organization’s top players, writes FanSided’s Christopher Kline.

One possible trade candidate is right-hander Logan Webb, the ace of San Francisco’s staff for several years.

“While Webb is still incredibly valuable, even in a down year with his inflated 4.21 ERA, the Giants need to induce radical change. [Rafael] Devers, [Willy] Adames and [Matt] Chapman — their other big-ticket stars — are all sunk costs who will be hard, if not impossible, to move off of,” Kline wrote.

“Webb is approaching the penultimate year of his contract, and contenders would line up around the block to acquire such a stabilizing force,” he added. “A Webb trade would infuse the Giants’ needy farm system with several high-end prospects.”

Webb is as reliable as a starting pitcher comes. This will be the first season in four years that Webb does not surpass 200 innings.

His contract is way more affordable than the players Kline listed, like Devers and Adames. Webb will earn $18 million a season for the next two seasons before becoming a free agent in 2029.

There’s bound to be at least a few teams who would be interested in having the 29-year-old in the rotation.

Especially since Webb consistently makes 30 or more starts a season and posts All-Star-worthy numbers yearly.
