Thursday night’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park will start an hour earlier due to ongoing air quality concerns.
The game – initially scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m. ET – was moved up to 6:10 p.m. ET, the Phillies announced on Thursday, July 16. The Third Base/Left Field gates will still open at 5:10 p.m. while all other gates will open at 5:40 p.m.
Smoke from the Canadian wildfires led to a Code Red Air Quality Alert for the Philadelphia region that will remain in effect until midnight.
During a Code Red, everyone should limit time outdoors, especially strenuous activity outside. Those with respiratory conditions, the elderly, and children are most vulnerable and should stay indoors as much as possible.
If you must be outside, an N95 mask can help filter the smoke particles.
